Liverpool FC reject Raheem Sterling enquiry from Manchester United

Liverpool FC have rejected a shock enquiry from Manchester United about the possible availability of Raheem Sterling this summer.

United have made an enquiry to Liverpool about contract rebel Sterling who is said to have told Anfield officials he does not want to sign a new contract.

Liverpool have firmly told United that Sterling, who has two years left on his current Reds deal, is not for sale. The 20-year-old was voted the club's Young Player of the Year on Tuesday night at the Liverpool Players' Awards, although he received a few boos from fans as he collected his award due to his current contract dispute.

United boss Louis van Gaal is understood to be prepared to ignore the bitter rivalry between the clubs to bid for Sterling.

No player has moved between the clubs since Phil Chisnall joined Liverpool from United in 1964.

Sterling and his agent Aidy Ward are expected to discuss the United approach when they meet Brendan Rodgers and Ian Ayre on Friday.

It is expected they will tell Liverpool that Sterling does not want to accept the club’s offer of a new deal although Ward issued a statement on Tuesday to suggest the issue had been blown out of proportion.

The move from Old Trafford could spark a bidding war with Chelsea and Arsenal also understood to be monitoring developments.

However Liverpool are desperate not to lose the player and would be even less keen to lose him to another Premier League rival.

Raheem Sterling would reject £900,000-a-week - agent

Raheem Sterling's agent says the winger will not sign a new contract at Liverpool even if he is offered "£900,000-a-week" by the club.
The 20-year-old's representative, Aidy Ward, also used a four-letter expletive to describe ex-Red Jamie Carragher, who has criticised Sterling's actions.
"I don't care about the PR of the club," Ward told the Evening Standard.
"He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing."
He added: "My job is to make sure I do the best with them [my clients]. If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter."

Sterling's current contract runs until 2017 and he has rejected a new £100,000-a-week deal to stay with the Merseysiders.
He told Reds boss Brendan Rodgers he wants to leave the club before the Chelsea game on 10 May.
The England international is now set to meet Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday where he is expected to formalise his request.
Sterling denied being a "money-grabber" in a BBC Sport interview last month but has come in for some heavy criticism from some of Liverpool's former players, including Carragher.
"Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players - none of those things matter to me. It is not relevant."

史達寧的續約風波繼續，這位年青翼鋒的經理人艾迪禾特（Aidy Ward）更直指，就算利物浦開出900,000萬鎊（約1,090萬港元）周薪，史達寧亦不會續約，更出言侮辱紅軍名宿加歷查。

艾迪禾特指：「加歷查是XX，大家都知道。所有足球評論員或前利物浦球員所說的話，我都完全不在乎。史達寧肯定不會簽約，70、80、90萬鎊都不會。」

Liverpool have cancelled contract talks with Raheem Sterling and his representatives which had been due to take place on Friday.

Earlier Sterling's agent Aidy Ward had told Sky Sports News HQ that he denied quotes attributed to him in the Evening Standard over the Liverpool forward's future and would be seeking legal advice over the article.

Ward was due to meet Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday to discuss Sterling's future and was expected to tell the club Sterling would not be signing an extension to his existing deal, which still has two years to run.

The 20-year-old was booed by some Liverpool fans as he accepted the Young Player of the Year award at Tuesday night’s end of season awards ceremony.

Sterling - and his agent have also been roundly criticised by many involved in football with Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry warning Sterling he risks "destroying his life and career" by listening to "bad advice".

Former Liverpool defender and fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has also slammed the way Sterling - and his representatives - have acted.

"For a 20-year-old kid to be taking on Liverpool Football Club over a contract, to the pit of my stomach that just winds me up, it angers me," Carragher told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. "You keep your mouth shut - get on with playing football."

Manchester United are reported to have made an enquiry about Sterling but senior sources at Old Trafford have said he is not on their list of targets.

And, speaking at a news conference to announce the latest England squad Roy Hodgson refused to answer questions on Sterling's future saying simply: "I won't be sticking my nose into that business at all."

怎可能咁做呢 ?

反正留係到, 以現時佢呢個態度根本冇可能再有進步空間.   賣左佢多四千萬, 絕對係最佳時機.
而且佢又唔係利記青訓產品, 佢離開得母會qpr  , 自自然然都會有機會離開利記. 合情合理.

我覺得佢可以再進一步發展, 但相信要去到更大球會, 否則佢抱住自己係球星心態, 好難再有作為.
