Real Madrid's Casilla offer rejected



Real Madrid's move for Kiko Casilla has been rebuffed by Espanyol, the latter club's president has confirmed.

Casilla, who left the Santiago Bernabeu in 2007, could be set for a return to Madrid as the Blancos consider filling Iker Casillas' void with him.

However, Espanyol have refused to enter into talks with Rafa Benitez's side - who retain 50 per cent of the 28-year-old's rights - following a ?4 million bid.

"There are no negotiations open with Real Madrid right now," the Barcelona club's official Twitter quote president Joan Collet as saying. "We rejected the offer."

Espanyol are believed to be willing to accept a ?6m bid that includes a loan for Marco Asension in exchange for one-time capped Spain international Casilla, who will compete with either Keylor Navas or Manchester United's David de Gea for a spot between the sticks in 2015-16.

Espanyol willing to negotiate with Madrid for Casilla - Collet



Espanyol president Joan Collet says the club are willing to enter talks with Real Madrid over Kiko Casilla if they improve on their initial offer.

The Spanish side are looking to bring the goalkeeper back to the Santiago Bernabeu after it was confirmed that Iker Casillas will leave to join Porto.

Casilla's release clause with the Catalan side is ?20 million, though Madrid will only have to pay half of that because they own 50 per cent of his rights.

However, the club chief revealed on Twitter that an initial ?4m offer from Madrid had been rejected, before telling reporters that he is still open to discussing a transfer with Los Blancos if they make a better offer.

"There has been nothing else from Madrid and the ?4m they offered is very little value to the player and the club," he said. "It is a very small figure. If the offer does not change, will not sit and talk with them.

"These clauses are rarely respected. We like it that way, we are open to negotiation.

"We have not negotiated with Madrid, we have not put variables or anything similar on the table.

"He is a player who has played at international level and can do so again."

Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, reports AS.

Casilla is the man Real want to replace the departed Iker Casillas and the two clubs want to get the deal finalised as soon as possible.

Espanyol rebuffed Madrid’s first offer of ?4m, but AS says the deal will be completed for a fee of around ?6m.

Madrid already own 50 per cent of Casilla’s rights, having sold him to Espanyol back in 2007.

Espanyol could also look to replace the 'keeper with Malaga’s Guillermo Ochoa, while they also want to take Real starlet Marco Asensio on loan too.

Real Madrid sign 'keeper Kiko Casilla

Real Madrid have signed goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Espanyol - a deal which could end their interest in signing Manchester United's David de Gea during this transfer window.

The 28-year-old Spain international arrives following the departure of Bernabeu legend Iker Casillas to Porto and will provide competition for Keylor Navas and the inexperienced Fernando Pacheco in the first team.

Madrid have been continually linked with a move for De Gea during the summer transfer window but may now opt to renew that interest when the goalkeeper's contract expires at the end of next season.

United are believed to want Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos in exchange for De Gea but the two clubs have been unable to come to an agreement for a player who Real coach Rafa Benitez says remains a firm part of his plans.

The Premier League club bid £28.6m for Ramos at the end of June and Real's reluctance to sell could lead to a similarly firm stance being taken by United over De Gea, even with his contract having just 12 months left to run.

New arrival Casilla, 28, played for Madrid's youth teams before stints with different Spanish clubs.

"It is a difficult moment for me after so many years with a club that I love, but I knew the chance to join Real Madrid was a unique opportunity and I wanted to seize it," Casilla told a news conference. "It is a train that only goes by once."

After his temporary exile in the lower divisions, he said: "Sometimes it is good to suffer in order to get somewhere. Sometimes it is worth it. Football has not given me an easy time but that way you enjoy moments like this much more.

"I am as excited as a young boy. I went there when I was 14 and now I am lucky enough to be going back."                  

His steady improvement in Espanyol's net for the past four seasons earned him a debut for Spain in a friendly against Germany in 2014.                  

Casilla will compete with Keylor Navas for playing time at Madrid, after Casillas left the club following 16 seasons to join Porto last week.
