Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp looking to add a striker to his squad in the summer
Spurs boss is predicting tough season next term and reveals he is already undertaking scouting missions to find new personnel
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he wants to add a striker to his team for next season if they are to continue to compete with the Premier League top four.
Following on from Goal.com’s exclusive which revealed Redknapp went to the French Cup final Saturday night to scout Mamadou Sakho among others, the Spurs boss has stated that he wants to add at least two more players to his team before the start of the season.
He told reporters: “I’m looking for a good front man if I can find one. I went to the cup final in France last night and I’m going to go abroad one or two times this week and keep following up leads and see what we come up with.
“It’s very difficult to come up with something better than you’ve already got.”
Redknapp also rues the fact that he didn’t get the chance to strengthen his squad in January despite enquiring for a number of players.
He added: “I think we could have improved in January, we just needed a little tweak just to liven us up a little bit but that happens and hopefully we can get one or two in the summer now.”
Redknapp feels that it is a necessity for Spurs to strengthen their squad for next season if they are to continue to challenge for the top-four positions in the league.
He said: “It’s going to be hard next year. There are six teams all going for it and Man United are certainties, Chelsea are certainties.
“Man City will be there I suppose because they’re going to spend another hundred million and you’ve got to fancy Arsenal because they’ve been there every single year.
“Liverpool are a great team with great tradition so it’s going to be tougher.”
