Owen Hargreaves signs for Manchester City MANCHESTER CITY have signed Owen Hargreaves.
The former Manchester United midfielder successfully completed a medical today and penned a contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Free agent Hargreaves has been without a club since he was released by United at the end of last season.
He has lost the best part of three years of his career due to a series of knee injuries and operations.
But the former England international has been publicly touting himself around this summer, not least in a series of videos on YouTube to prove his fitness.
West Bromwhich Albion had already made an offer to the two-time Champions League winner.
But Canadian-born Hargreaves, 30, decided to take his time to see if there was any more interest.
Yet he could not have imagined being snapped up by the world's richest club and one seemingly destined for more silverware this season.
Boss Roberto Mancini, who led City to FA Cup glory last season, was keen to land another defensive midfielder before tomorrow's 11pm transfer deadline.
He already has Gareth Barry, Nigel de Jong and James Milner who can play in that role, but felt it was necessary to bolster his squad to sustain a challenge on four fronts. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3783440/Owen-Hargreaves-signs-for-Manchester-City.html
