Serie A outfit complete swoop for experienced foward

Fiorentina have completed a deal for Argentine striker Santiago Silva, following lengthy discussions.

The Serie A outfit agreed to match the forward's buy-out clause last week, but have had to be patient in their efforts to push a deal through.

They have, however, reached an agreement with Velez Sarsfield and the 30-year-old put pen to paper on Wednesday.

Silva is looking forward to testing himself in European football once again, having failed to shine in the past.

He took in stints in Germany and Portugal between 2003 and 2005, but was soon heading back to South America.

The experienced striker will now get an opportunity to prove his worth in Italy's top flight, with Fiorentina having secured his services.

Reports in Holland suggest Bryan Ruiz is closing on a move to Fulham. TC Tubantia claim FC Twente chairman Joop Munsterman has told them that the striker has agreed a switch to the Cottagers.

Dann completes Rovers medical

Sky Sports sources understand Birmingham City defender Scott Dann has completed his medical at Blackburn Rovers and is set to sign a contract at Ewood Park

The centre-back has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool throughout the summer, but the two clubs opted for Per Mertesacker and Sebastian Coates respectively.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean has decided to push ahead with a move, having worked with the centre-back during their time together at former club Coventry.

Dann is in the north and has passed his medical assessment and it is now only a matter of putting pen to paper on his contract.

The deal is reported to be worth £5million and the defender will represent a replacement for Phil Jones, who left Blackburn for Manchester United this summer.
