Official: Real Zaragoza sign Sporting Lisbon's Helder Postiga for ?1 million

The Portuguese forward has agreed to a move to the La Liga outfit after becoming the subject of intense scrutiny at the Lisbon-based club

Sporting Lisbon have announced the transfer of Helder Postiga to Real Zaragoza for ?1 million to the Portuguese stock market (CMVM).

The Estadio de Alvalade outfit will only receive half of that figure, as Porto, where Postiga played from 2004 to 2008, controlled 50 per cent of the player's rights.

Zaragoza have also agreed to pay another ?1m, depending upon the striker's performances during his contract, with its duration not yet announced.

The Portugal international raised eyebrows in the pre-season with five goals in seven matches, but he failed to find the back of the net in Sporting's five official encounters to date, which made him the subject of criticism from the fans.

Sporting are currently 11th in the Portuguese league on two points, and reports in the country suggest the club will sell Yannick Djalo to Nice before the end of the day.
