Atletico Madrid set sights on Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi as Sergio Aguero replacement - reportAtleti are resigned to losing Aguero this summer and are aiming high in their search for a replacement as they have set their sights on the Italian
Atletico Madrid are considering making a move for Villarreal attacker Giuseppe Rossi as they prepare for life after Sergio Aguero, AS reports.Aguero revealed last month that he wants to leave the Vicente Calderon in the summer transfer window, and has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Juventus.
The capital club are desperate to sign a high-profile name to replace the Argentine international and see Rossi as the perfect alternative.
The 24-year-old initially appeared to be on his way to Champions League winners Barcelona this summer, but rumours of a move to Camp Nou have waned as the Catalans have now turned their attention to Udinese's Alexis Sanchez.
Therefore, Atletico feel they have a realistic chance of luring Rossi to the Spanish capital next season, and are willing to pay up to ?30 million for the Italian.
Rossi would follow in the footsteps of Diego Forlan if the transfer materialises, as the Uruguay international departed El Madrigal for Atleti in the summer of 2007.
