Pirlo extends Juve stay for two more years
The midfielder has penned a new deal to keep him at Juventus until 30 June 2016



The incredible story of Andrea Pirlo and Juventus is set to continue.
The Professor has renewed his contract with the club, meaning that he will keep wearing the black and white jersey until 30 June 2016.
It was 24 May 2011 when Pirlo was announced as a Juve player. Somewhat prophetically, the playmaker introduced himself to the fans by declaring,
"I can't wait to start winning in these colours. [...] I'm sure I can repay the great reception I've been given in these first few days
by putting in the utmost dedication and hopefully by winning some big prizes too."

He has been true to his word. Since that day he has guided Juve into the history books.
He's done it in his own way, the discreet, humble champion that he is.
A glance at his team-mates and the ball, a calm nod and the magic is unleashed.

For 131 games Andrea Pirlo has been the fulcrum of the side, the intersection through which every move passes.
Six thunderbolts have been released from his foot this season, 14 goals in total. In three years he's played his team-mates through on goal 30 times,
touching the ball at least once for every minute he's spent on the pitch (11,551 balls played versus his 11,344 minutes in action), with a pass completion rate of over 90%.

Pirlo To Sign New Contract With Juventus




Juventus have reached an agreement with Andrea Pirlo over a new contract that will see the Italian remain with the Bianconeri for the next two seasons.

The 34-year-old has been the subject of much speculation with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season,

but rumours over the past few months have indicated that he would stay in Turin.

Sky Sport Italia claim that the player will sign a new two-year deal to keep him at the Juventus Stadium until 2016.

The Italy international had been linked with moves abroad, most notably to link up with his former boss

Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, but he now looks set to remain with the Bianconeri.

Pirlo has been in great form again this season, scoring six goals in all competitions as he looks to claim his third successive Serie A title with Juventus.

The former AC Milan man has scored 25 free-kicks during his career in Serie A, putting him just three behind the current record holder Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Contract news: Andrea Pirlo intends to prolong Juventus career



Andrea Pirlo sees no reason to turn his back on Juventus, but admits to regretting not testing himself abroad at some stage in his career.

The Italy international is now 35 years of age, but is showing no signs of slowing down after helping Juve to a third successive Serie A title

and counting down to the days to his third World Cup finals appearance.

He claims to be as motivated to compete at the highest level as he has ever been and has no intention of taking on another challenge just yet.

Instead, there has been talk that Pirlo will soon pen a new contract that will keep him in Turin until 2016.

He told L'Equipe: "I am training every day as well as any other player. I need that.

"My motivation to go on is very strong, simply because I love playing football and having fun on the pitch.

"I have always had fun every day on the training field and every weekend during the matches.

I believe that is important. I don't feel any tiredness or weakness.

"I am happy at Juventus and I hope to be able to stay for a few more years."

Pirlo has spent his entire career to date in his native Italy, taking in spells at Brescia, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Numerous clubs have attempted to lure him away from Serie A down the years - most notably Chelsea -

and the 2006 World Cup winner concedes that he should have taken one of those chances.

Asked if he has any regrets at having snubbed a switch abroad, Pirlo said: "Yes, indeed. I would have liked to try.

"I have had regular opportunities in the past but each time I chose to stay in Italy.

"But we will see what happens in the future. Why not?"

Pirlo "agrees" new Juve deal



Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo has revealed he is close to signing a two-year contract extension with the Turin giants.

The veteran midfielder could become a free agent this summer but is set to pen a new two-year deal with the recently-crowned Serie A champions.

"More or less we have reached an agreement," Pirlo said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "I hope the announcement will be made in the coming days."

Pirlo, who was voted the 2012-13 Player of the Year in Serie A by his peers, has enjoyed another solid campaign with the Turin club.

The Italy international joined Juve from AC Milan in 2011 and has been a regular in Antonio Conte's starting 11.

The 34-year-old, who is set to play for Italy at this summer's World Cup, scored four goals in 29 league appearances to help Juve clinch their third straight Scudetto.

Pirlo hopes Conte will remain at the club next season.

Conte has been linked with a move away from Turin this summer after three successful seasons in charge of the Old Lady.

"I hope Sunday's game against Cagliari is not Conte's last," Pirlo said. "In three years he has taken us to win three league titles."

Juve end the campaign this weekend needing just a point against Cagliari in Turin to become the first club in Italy to reach the 100-point mark.

"It's an important achievement," Pirlo said. "We have the opportunity to do so and we will not miss this chance."
