Jeffrey Schlupp to sign new Leicester deal Sky sources understand Leicester defender Jeffrey Schlupp will sign a new four-year deal on Monday. The City academy product only signed a fresh three-year contract 12 months ago, tying him to the Foxes until the end of the 2016/17 campaign. The Daily Mirror had reported that Schlupp was a target for Arsenal, Aston Villa and Swansea in the current transfer window.
However, the 22-year-old has chosen to extend his stay at King Power Stadium after talks with Leicester director of football Jon Rudkin with the new deal to run until summer 2019. Schlupp has played 115 times for the first Leicester team, scoring 14 goals,
Thirty-five appearances and three goals came last term as the Foxes staged an incredible late-season escape to secure Premier League survival.
The versatile German-born Schlupp, who can also play in midfield and up front, won his first cap for Ghana against Gabon back in 2013 before earning a call-up to the country's provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
He went on to claim a second cap for the Black Stars in a friendly against the Netherlands but missed out on selection in the 23-man squad for the finals.
Schlupp was also controversially omitted from Avram Grant's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana squad due to injury.
