BLACK CAT BECOMES A TANGERINE
Ian Holloway has made his first deadline day signing by completing a move for Andy Reid from Sunderland on a contract until the end of the season.
The creative Irish midfielder, who arrives for an undisclosed fee, made 78 appearances for The Black Cats following a £4,000,000 move in January 2008.
He joined Charlton from Tottenham for £3m in August 2006, and was a key player for the Addicks, taking the captain's armband.
Born in Dublin, Reid began his career with Nottingham Forest in 1999 and he soon became a regular first-team fixture at the City Ground, helping the talented young Forest side reach the Championship play-offs in May 2003.
The dead-ball specialist made 160 league and cup appearances for Forest between 1999 and 2005, scoring 25 goals, before Martin Jol took him to Tottenham for £4m in the 2005 January transfer window.
He made 27 appearances for Spurs, scoring one goal, before Charlton signed him for £3m in August 2006. Reid represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-16s and Under-18s levels and has gone on to win 28 senior caps, scoring three goals.
Reid joined Sheffield United on loan in October 2010, making nine appearances and scoring two goals before returning to the Stadium of Light in January 2011, he was an unused substitute when the two sides met a Bloomfield Road earlier in the month.
