面對西布朗弄傷足踝，紅魔領隊費格遜證實，前鋒朗尼需要休戰兩周。僅3分鐘就取得進賬的朗尼，打破286天生波入球荒，但被對手鏟傷，無法堅持完成賽事，爵爺賽後曾表示其傷勢無礙下仗對史篤城。

然而，經過軍醫的掃描檢查之後，這名英格蘭國腳需要休戰兩周，除了本輪聯賽之外，也會錯過英足盃對利物浦，而兩周後對熱刺的大戰也是上陣成疑。

去年已受到足踝傷患困擾的朗尼，在上季歐聯作客拜仁慕尼黑時，就因扭傷足踝而避戰，狀態逐漸下滑。過去7年，這名紅魔王牌先後7次因足踝傷患而缺陣，希望這一次不要再急於復出了。

WAYNE ROONEY is set to miss Manchester United’s game against Stoke at Old Trafford tomorrow, but hopes to be fit to face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Rooney’s joy at ending his nine-month wait for a goal from open play for United against West Brom on Saturday was tempered when he pulled up in agony after twisting his left ankle late in the game.

Sir Alex Ferguson said he feared a two-week lay-off for his striker but Rooney, who limped back on to the pitch to help United see out the game after all three substitutes had been used, has told friends he expects to miss only one match.
