Newcastle striker Andy Carroll has been released on bail - on condition that he lives with club captain Kevin Nolan.
Carroll was charged on Monday with assaulting Laurie Henderson, an ex-girlfriend, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The forward appeared in court in Northumberland and was charged, but released on condition that he lives with Nolan, his club captain.
The court agreed that Carroll could stay away from Nolan's home only when Newcastle are playing.
Curiously, Carroll gave his address as the Jesmond Dene Hotel in Newcastle.
The case was adjourned until January 10, but according to The Shields Gazette, the court was told Carroll will deny the charges and will claim self-defence.
What Mrs Nolan thinks about the arrangement is currently unclear.
