Transfer news: Crystal Palace confirm the signing of Senegal defender Pape Souare Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Senegal defender Pape Souare from Lille, subject to a work permit.The 24-year-old left-back, part of the Senegal squad recently knocked out in the Africa Cup of Nations' group stage, has signed on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee.Palace chairman Steve Parish tweeted on Friday that Souare had “just this minute signed” for the club and received a “warm welcome from all”.
Souare made 55 league appearances for Lille, having graduated from their academy, and was part of their French Ligue 1 and Cup double-winning side of 2010-11.
Souare has five caps for Senegal, including two at this month's tournament in Equatorial Guinea; the victory over Ghana and the defeat to Algeria.
Palace have confirmed the player came over directly from Equatorial Guinea and completed the paperwork, before returning home, and he will begin training with his new club early this week.
