Liverpool transfer approach rejected - 23.08.10
23 August 2010
PSV Eindhoven have rejected Liverpool's initial attempt to sign striker Ola Toivonen.
Reds boss Roy Hodgson wants to strengthen his squad with the purchase of the 24-year-old Swedish hitman but PSV claim they're not interested in selling.
Both Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish are believed to have scouted the player recently.
PSV sporting director Marcel Brands said: "I also read about that (Kenny Dalglish's trip) in the newspaper, but I didn't see him at the stadium and it is not important. We don't want to lose Ola during this transfer window.
"They called us last Thursday, in the morning, and asked how much we wanted for Ola Toivanen, but our answer was clear: we will not sell him at this point. We have not heard from them since.
"To have people from other clubs in the stands is quite normal. PSV are a big club and we get visits like that every week."
PSV boss Fred Rutten added: "I expect Ola to stay with us this season."
Meanwhile Liverpool have again been linked with Juventus striker David Trezeguet.
The 32-year-old's agent has confirmed our interest in his client who is available for transfer.
