Official: Benfica Confirm Chelsea Agreement For ?22m Ramires Move
The midfielder's move is all but sealed.Benfica have confirmed that they have agreed with Chelsea a fee of ?22m for highly-rated midfielder Ramires. Once terms are agreed with the Brazilian player, and medical tests completed, the transfer will be completely confirmed.
In a brief statement to the Comissao do Mercado de Valores Mobiliarios (CMVM), the Portuguese regulatory authorities, Benfica said:
"Benfica... hereby announces that it has reached a preliminary agreement with Chelsea for the definitive transfer of the sporting and economic rights of the professional footballer Ramires for the amount of ?22,000,000."
It was also made clear that this fee was agreed subject to medical checks at both clubs.
In what has been a rather swift-moving transfer saga, the Portuguese outfit made this announcement mere hours after telling the CMVM that negotiations were underway.
Ramires has been linked with Chelsea for some time, but since a will on the part of both clubs emerged, negotiations have proceeded rapidly. As such the move is expected to be completely concluded by the end of the week.
