Yaya Toure has revealed his heartache at leaving Barcelona for Manchester City and plans to return to Camp Nou later in his career.
The Ivory Coast international completed his £27.5million switch from Spain to Eastlands on Friday to become Roberto Mancini's latest big-money signing.
Defensive midfielder Toure will link up with his brother Kolo in Manchester and moves away from Barca after three years with the Catalan giants.
The 27-year-old was unable to command regular first-team football with Pep Guardiola's side and elected to move on to secure more time on the field.
"The decision to leave was complicated because Barca is the team of my whole life," he told radio station RAC-1.
Sad decision
"It was a sad decision because everybody wants to come to Barca and I have had to leave, but not playing has been difficult and it wouldn't have been normal to just sit on the bench and pick up the money.
"I don't feel that I'm away from Barca and I'm sure I'll go back one day."Toure admitted his agent, Dimitri Seluk was instrumental in the move but stressed that he had found watching on from the bench tough to take last term.
"He told me I had to leave," he said. "I wanted to bring more joy to the fans, but life is like that."Barca is a great club with the best players in the world and I have played less in this third season, which for me has been difficult."
Grow
Toure had nothing but praise for former manager Guardiola and has now set his sights on helping City challenge for honours in England after signing a five-year deal.
He added: "I had no certainty that the situation would change, so I decided to start a new experience.
"I am coming to City to help them grow and reach the level of Manchester United and Chelsea.
"At Barcelona there are the best players in the world and it is difficult for Guardiola to choose who should play.
"Guardiola knows a lot about football and is a very good person who I have great admiration for and I cannot say anything bad about him."
