Blackburn Rovers assistant manager Eric Black has confirmed talks are ongoing about a possible move for Chris Samba to Anzhi Makhachkala.
The transfer window in Russia does not close until Friday and big-spending Anzhi are lining up a late move for unsettled Rovers defender Samba.
Samba handed in a transfer request at Blackburn in January, but he failed to secure a move away from Ewood Park before the transfer window closes.
QPR are thought to have had several bids rejected, while Spurs were also credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.
Negotiations
Reports in Russia have claimed Anzhi are ready to offer Samba a lucrative three-year deal with new coach Guus Hiddink keen to bolster his squad.
Black has now confirmed Rovers are in talks with Anzhi as they weigh up selling the want-away central defender.
"I think negotiations are ongoing at the moment," said Black. "I don't really know the details and I'm not really in a position to comment further on that, but negotiations are ongoing.
"I've only heard bits and pieces, but I know the manager is speaking as we speak and hopefully there will be an outcome soon."

Chelsea midfielder speaks about possible Russian move
Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has reportedly admitted he is considering an offer to join Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala.
Anzhi, who are in talks to sign Blackburn's Chris Samba ahead of Friday's Russian transfer deadline, are now believed to have also made a move for Mikel.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international has been with the Blues since 2006 and has played over 200 times for the West London giants.
Mikel was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid in January, where he would have linked up with former Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho.
But he is now believed to be a target for Anzhi and has been quoted as saying he is thinking about his situation.
Contacted
"It is true that Anzhi officials contacted me and made a move to have me, but I have not given them my word yet," he told MTNFootball.
"I am still a Chelsea player, changing clubs is not a decision to rush into, I love Chelsea and I am taking my time.
"I want to play always and that has not been happening for a while now but I hope after my recent injury problem, I will get regular football action."
New Anzhi coach Guus Hiddink also worked with Mikel during his brief stint in charge at Stamford Bridge
