The champions of Europe's top four leagues could all find themselves in the same Champions League group after the completion of the play-off ties, ESPN can reveal.
It was already certain that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus would be in pots one to three, and results in midweek ensured that there would be no reprieve from the bottom pot for German title winners Borussia Dortmund.
Paris Saint Germain could also have found themselves in pot four had all the play-off round seeded teams won through to the Champions League proper, but Malaga's win over Panathinaikos on Tuesday ensured PSG, who finished second to Montpellier in France, would be in pot three.
The pots are formed using UEFA's co-efficient system, which ranks teams based upon their European performance over a five year period with an additional score added for the national association's general performance.
The draw for the group stage takes place on Thursday at 17.00 BST, ahead of Friday's UEFA Super Cup between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.
