Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes Borussia Dortmund will face a tough battle to hold on to star player Marco Reus.

On Tuesday, German newspaper Bild reported that the 25-year-old rejected the opportunity to sign a new contract in order to engineer a move elsewhere.

The German international has a reported ?35 million buyout clause in his current contract,

which expires in 2017, and is being chased by some of Europe’s top clubs, including Manchester United and Barcelona.

Bayern are also thought to be interested in the attacker, who has scored 30 goals in 62 appearances since he joined BVB in 2012,

and Rummenigge thinks Reus’ intention is clear following his decision not to extend his current dea at Signal Iduna Park.

"I think that it is hard for Borussia Dortmund,” Rummenigge told Bild.

“Europe’s top clubs will be very interested to find out Reus’ buyout clause [after he rejected a new contract]

as the player is in high demand from a lot of big clubs other than FC Bayern Munich.”

The 25-year-old Reus missed this summer’s World Cup after he picked up an ankle ligament injury,

but he has recently returned to light running and he hopes to make a full recovery by the start of the 2014-15 season.

列奧斯拒絕續約 多蒙特或再失主力

據德國《圖片報》報道，多蒙特翼鋒馬高列奧斯拒絕球會的續約建議，預料將會引來多間歐洲大球會的爭奪。
據報道指，雖然該名25歲翼鋒與球會的合約至2017年才屆滿，不過，多蒙特在五月時，曾希望透過續約和將列奧斯500萬歐元（約5,200萬港元）的年薪，
提升至700萬歐元（約7,300萬港元），希望藉此取消他現時的合約中價值3,500萬歐元（約3.6億港元）解約條款，惜列奧斯最終拒絕續約；
而此時傳出列奧斯拒絕續約的消息，或會吸引正渴求邊線球員的曼聯新帥雲高爾，
據悉雲帥或會出價羅致該名德國國腳，屆時蜜蜂兵團將要再次面對陣中主力離隊他投的困境。

Bayern to discuss Reus transfer, says Rummenigge

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he will discuss a potential move for Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus with club chiefs.

The Bavarians have signed Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski from BVB in the last two summers and are rumoured to want to pay the 25-year-old's buyout clause next summer, believed to be worth ?25 million.

Gotze admitted on Sunday that he was keen to see his old team-mate join him at the Allianz Arena and Rummenigge has now confirmed the Bundesliga champions will make a decision on whether to launch a bid.

"To be honest, we'll discuss the matter internally and calmly. Then we will come to a decision," he told Kicker.

"At the end of the day, the player has to decide too. His release clause is well known. There's nothing more to say."

Dortmund have reacted angrily to Bayern's interest in yet another of their stars, with CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke speaking out against the Bundesliga champions several times for what he deemed to be a public courting of the player.

Bayern were in the race to sign Reus from Borussia Monchengladbach back in 2012 but were pipped to the post by their rivals.

Reus has one goal and two assists from his three Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
