Aaron Ramsey expected to be out for at least four weeks Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is expected to miss at least four weeks with the latest hamstring injury he suffered against Leicester City on Tuesday night. Ramsey lasted only nine minutes as a second-half substitute, before pulling up with another hamstring problem that forced him off.
The Welshman missed six weeks with a similar injury suffered against Galatasaray in December and only made five appearances before suffering his recurrence.
While the initial prognosis is that Ramsey will be forced to miss four weeks, the 24-year-old could be left out longer by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to make sure he fully recovers. Ahead of the Leicester game, Wenger had suggested that any sort of muscular injury at this stage of the season could leave a player in a race against time to play again this campaign.
“Once you go into February, if you have a muscular injury and a guy has a set back, you say ‘bye bye’ as the season is over as it is six weeks out,” said Wenger.
“By the time you come back to your full level is April.”
Alexis Sanchez suffered a bang on the knee against Leicester,
but Arsenal are hopeful he will be fit enough to be part of the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough – even though the Chile international could be rested from the starting line-up.
Jack Wilshere may return to the Arsenal squad for the first time for the Middlesbrough game, having missed three months with an ankle injury.
