Jackson Martinez’ situation: between the medical with Milan & Atletico Madrid’s interestMilan is trying to fend off Atletico Madrid in the race for Jackson Martinez. According to what is filtering from the rossoneri's camp the situation is very clear:
Milan won't sign him to a contract without him taking a medical first, and at the moment no trip to Chile is scheduled. Milan has had numerous conversations with the Colombian federation, but they haven't been able to schedule a medical because of the problems tied to the availability of local clinics.
Milan however is still confident, since they have an agreement with Porto as well as the player's agent. The Portuguese club had accepted the payment of ?35 million over multiple years, while they had a handshake agreement with Martinez' agent.
Should Atletico try to sign the Colombian striker they will have to follow the guidelines of the contract, which involve paying the exit clause within 60 days and take the risk of signing the player without a medical exam. On top of that, the agent would have to go back on the verbal agreement he made with Milan in Oporto.
At the moment Milan is focused on the derby with Inter for Kmdogbia, once that race is resolved they will focus again on Jackson Martinez.
Milan is ready to defend themselves from Atletico joining the race for Martinez.
