Julian Draxler joins Wolfsburg from Schalke

Germany international Julian Draxler has left his home club Schalke after 14 years to join Wolfsburg on a five-year contract.

The midfielder joined Schalke's youth team in 2001 and made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2011, playing 119 Bundesliga games and scoring 18 goals.

Wolfsburg, who have sold midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City for £54.5m and Ivan Perisic to Inter Milan, have also brought in central defender Dante from Bayern Munich as they prepare for the Champions League group stage.

The Wolves were Bundesliga runners-up last season and won the German Cup.

The cost of the deal is undisclosed, but Schalke sports director Horst Heldt says it is a record sale for the club.

"There were two reasons why we agreed to this deal," Heldt said in a statement. "We will not comment on transfer details but can say that it is the transfer with the highest revenues generated in the history of our club.

"We also met the specific wishes of Julian to change clubs."

Juventus begins negotiation for Draxler: Schalke’s first request

Juventus continues to work on signing Draxler.
After the bianconeri's sporting director Paratici met with the player and his agent (their request is ?5 million a season), the bianconeri have started negotiating with Schalke,
the German club is asking for ?30 million while Juventus is willing to offer ?20 million plus bonuses. Draxler remains a target for Juventus.

DRAXLER SAYS GOODBYE

Julian Draxler has already told his Schalke team-mates that he will be leaving the club.

According to RevierSport, the 21-year old midfielder said his goodbyes at Jefferson Farfan's own farewell party following Schalke’s friendly in Gdansk on Wednesday.

The Germany international is set to sign a five-year contract with Juventus, once the two clubs come to an agreement over the transfer fee.

Juventus is looking for an offensive midfielder for Allegri's squad.
At the moment Draxler appears to be the most likely option, the bianconeri are close to agreeing with the player on the wages,
and had further contacts with Schalke on Thursday- the German club is asking for ?30 million and aren't interested in a loan deal.

Juventus has made significant progress in Draxler race after reaching an agreement with the player.
The midfielder would earn ?3.5 million plus bonuses a season should the Bianconeri complete the deal with Schalke.
The German club is currently asking for ?30 million, but with steady progress the agreement can be reached. Juventus is ready to close the deal for Draxler.
