Jack Wilshere is free to leave Arsenal this summer.Sportsmail understands the midfielder does not feature in manager Arsene Wenger's plans next season, with Arsenal now listening to offers for the midfielder.Sampdoria have already made a £6million offer for Wilshere this summer - but the playmaker wants to consider his options before taking a decision on his future.Wilshere could yet remain at Arsenal and see out the remaining 12 months of his contract before leaving on a free transfer next season - a scenario the Gunners want to avoid.Arsenal are open to Wilshere extending his existing deal, but such an agreement would merely be a ploy to protect his value.
But it is looking increasingly likely that Wilshere will leave the Emirates in the current transfer window.
Wilshere has not travelled on Arsenal's pre-season tour of Australia and China as he continues his recovery from a broken leg sustained during the closing weeks of last season. He is due to resume training with the senior set-up upon their return. But his chances of regular first-team football under Wenger look bleak, though Arsenal's demotion into the Europa League could provide Wilshere with some opportunities to play.
Wilshere's career has been crippled by injury, though his 29 appearances last season raised hope that those problems are finally behind him, despite the broken leg that ended his season prematurely.
Nevertheless, Wenger has a host of central midfielders to choose from; Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny ahead of Wilshere in the pecking order.Additionally, Santi Cazorla is still at the club, with medical staff hopefully he'll be able to play again towards the end of the 2017.
