Kuqi in Magpies medical
Pardew sweet on striker swoop
Skysports.com understands Shefki Kuqi is undergoing a medical at Newcastle ahead of a shock move to St James\' Park.
As revealed by skysports.comearlier on Wednesday, the Magpies were lining up a shock move for the Finnish striker to bolster their attacking options.
The North East side have targeted a move for Kuqi as they are desperately short of options in attack having sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool on deadline day and lost Shola Ameobi for several weeks with a fractured cheekbone.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew confirmed earlier this week he was considering a number of free agents having missed out on bringing in a new forward before the close of the transfer window
Former Blackburn forward Kuqi is available on a free transfer having cancelled his contract at Swansea last month.
Pardew has indentified Kuqi as the answer to Newcastle\'s striking problems and is ready to offer the 34-year-old a short-term deal at St James\' Park.
