Madrid Put Saviola Up For Sale
Real Madrid have put Javier Saviola up for sale and expect to several clubs to make approaches before the end of the season to enquire about his services
Coach Bernd Schustre has told Los Merengues' hierarchy that he wants to sign a new striker in the summer and that the Argentinian will make way for the new arrival.
When Saviola arrived last year, his signing appeared to be something of a coup for Madrid as they had picked him up for nothing from arch rivals Barcelona.
Having spent much of last season on the bench at Camp Nou, the former River Plate striker had something to prove at the Bernabéu and it looked like a perfect partnership.
Instead, Schuster quickly became disenchanted with Saviola and he has appeared in only six league games this term and has picked up several injuries.
Madrid will not allow him to leave for free in the summer, despite not paying anything for him, as they know that suitors will pay the market value for him.
After it was revealed that Barça were not going to renew his contract a year ago, Real Zaragoza tried land Saviola but turned to Ricardo Oliveira after he agreed to join Madrid.
A number of clubs in England were also linked to him and that interest could be rekindled at the end of this term too.
