So at that I pick up the story and Ireland was subbed, I had no idea why, so flicked on twitter. Apparently according to one journo, Ireland had told Mcleish to ‘fxxx off’ after being criticised for allowing the cross for the first goal. Whatever the right or wrongs of this, Mcleish’s first consideration should always be the team and not his own ego. It was clear that the team got disrupted by whatever went on and Newcastle basically dominated the second half through midfield. Mcleish will try and claim Ireland was injured and we know that is rubbish.
