Brazil international is wanted by both Italian giants, but agent suggests it's Juve who are in pole position after making their intentions known with a formal bid

Lyon's Michel Bastos has an offer from Juventus, but Inter have now entered the fray, his agent has claimed.

Bastos, 27, is tied to the Stade Gerland outfit until 2013, but with the Italian clubs seemingly scrambling for his signature, a summer move could materialise.

Juve had looked like the front runners for the Brazilian as they continue searching for a wide man on the left, but La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed that Inter have now joined the race.

Agent Emmanuel Kerchove has confirmed the interest from the San Siro club, but made it clear that it was the Old Lady who arranged a substantial offer first.

"I confirm the interest from Inter in Bastos, but the Bianconeri have moved first, and they have presented a concrete offer," the agent told Calciomercato.it.

"He does not have a preference for Inter or Juventus. He likes football and wants to play," added Kerchove.

Bastos is expected to gain a EU passport over the coming weeks which could facilitate his move to Serie A as he would not impact the non-EU quota measures in place there.

Roma set to appoint Luis Enrique as coach – report

Former Serie A champions have reportedly reached an agreement with the ex-Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder and will make a formal announcement soon

Italian club Roma will name Luis Enrique as their new coach in the next few days, according to latest emanating reports from Italy.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the former Italian champions have struck a two-year deal with departing Barcelona B boss, who will bag ?1.6 million per annum as salary.

It has also been suggested that the 41-year-old’s former Barcelona team-mate Ivan de la Pena will join him as his assistant tactician at the Olimpico.

The news comes just hours after Luis Enrique himself admitted that he is interested in replacing interim Vincenzo Montella as the Roma boss as he told Sky Sport Italia: "The situation is how it was last Sunday. I am 50 per cent towards Atletico Madrid, and 50 per cent towards Roma. Roma remain an option, but there is still a situation to define.”

Luis Enrique, a former midfielder at Barcelona and Real Madrid, had been the coach of Barcelona B since 2008. Reports suggest that the move will be made official after Sunday’s game between Barcelona B and Rayo Vallecano.

Former Chievo boss Stefano Pioli had also been a candidate for the post at Roma, but signed on to become head coach of Palermo on Thursday. Marseille's Didier Deschamps and former Chelsea and AC Milan tactician Carlo Ancelotti have also been linked with the post in recent weeks.

Tottenham will make an improved offer of £12 million for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao after having an opening bid turned down by Internacional.

The Brazilian club have confirmed they rejected a £10.5m bid from Spurs lodged earlier this week but talks are ongoing between the two clubs for the highly rated striker who is also being tracked by Barcelona, Benfica and Juventus.

Internacional have asked for £17m for the 21-year-old but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking to haggle the price down and is hopeful that a second offer of £12m will be accepted.

As revealed by Goal.com UK last month, Tottenham have made Damiao one of their leading summer targets as manager Harry Redknapp plans to rebuild his misfiring strikeforce.

Damiao has scored 22 goals in his last 24 games for Internacional and their coach Paulo Roberto Falcao has admitted it is “inevitable” that his star man will leave the Porto Alegre-based club.

Confirming Tottenham's opening bid, Internacional president Giovanni Luigi said he anticipated a second offer and declared his desire to keep Damiao until the end of the calendar year.

“It was the first concrete offer we’ve had,” said Luigi. “I said I didn’t want to sell now, but I think they will come back with another attempt. I warned that he’ll only leave at the end of the year and for more money.”

Tottenham are in pole position to sign Damiao thanks to their strategic partnership with Internacional, which was announced in August 2009 and paved the way for the £8m signing of midfielder Sandro last summer.


Sandro, who has been a huge success since breaking into the Spurs side, is a close friend of Damiao and has been trying to convince his compatriot to join him at White Hart Lane next season. “He is a very strong guy, he is the perfect size for English football, he can do very well here,” the midfielder told Brazilian reporters last week.

Internacional own 70 per cent of the player's economic rights, with the other 30% being held by the player, who is under contract until 2016. He made his Brazil debut against Scotland in March and is likely to feature in Brazil's upcoming friendlies against Holland and Romania.

The midfielder insists he has told Arsene Wenger of his desire to leave the club and claims he will go back to Brazil if he does not receive a suitable offer from Europe

Arsenal’s disgruntled midfielder Denilson has again expressed his desire to leave the Emirates Stadium after failing to make an impact for the Gunners this season.

The Brazilian, who is believed to have attracted interest from the likes of Sevilla and Wolfsburg, admits he would consider joining any club from Spain, Italy and Germany, providing they are in the Champions League.

He said, according to the Daily Mirror: "I've spoken twice with Arsene Wenger and my decision is clear. I'm not happy at Arsenal and, after five years at the club, it's best for me to go.

"I'm still young. If I don't find another club in Europe, I will go back to Brazil and play there for six months.

"My idea is to accept any offer from Spain, Italy or Germany from a club that is playing in the Champions League. I dream of maintaining a place in the Brazil national team.

"I don't blame Arsene Wenger at all. I believe I've had my best season personally but want to win titles.

"After the Carling Cup final it all went wrong for Arsenal."
