Spurs Agree To Let Lee Go To Roma
Tottenham Hotspur's South Korean defender Lee Young-pyo is set to join
Italian outfit AS Roma.
“Tottenham and Roma have agreed Lee’s transfer in principle,” said the player’s agent “At the moment Roma are working out the details of the contract length and salary.
"It is not definite as the only step left is the player’s agreement. It is
not connected to the Mido transfer.”
There have been rumours of Roma interest in Lee for months but the timing is right for the Serie A giants with the transfer window about to shut.
The former PSV Eindhoven star had a solid first season at White Hart Lane
but Cameroonian left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto has greatly impressed coach Martin Jol since joining the club in the summer, forcing Lee to play on the right.
The 29 year-old, who has made 88 appearances for the national team, has beennamed in South Korea’s squad for Saturday’s Asian Cup qualifier with Iranin Seoul.
