Thierry Henry - Why I can only dance with Adebayor By Richard ClarkeThierry Henry has revealed the reason why he celebrates every goal by dancing with Emmanuel Adebayor. It appears the Togolese striker is the only one who can follow the steps.
Arsenal’s front two have been gelling on and off the pitch in recent months. In that time they have begun to perform a strange hip-swivel when each other scores. Henry told the Club’s official website about its origins.
“There is nothing really behind it,” he said. “It just happened. We were messing around in the dressing room.
“That is one of the steps that I do when I dance and we said we’d do it if we scored. To be honest he is the only one who can follow the steps.”
No one is suggesting the dance is having a galvanising affect on the team. However its emergence — along with a string of stirring comebacks — is one illustration of the spirit and harmony in the Arsenal camp at the moment.
“I get along with everybody,” said Henry. “Ade is a great guy. He has been like that straight from the start. I knew him a little bit before because he was playing with my old club. But whether it is with him, Emmanuel Eboue, William Gallas or Robin van Persie you'll see it. We always celebrate our goals. I like to enjoy them with everybody.
“Ade is doing tremendous right now. It is easy to point out [our partnership] at the moment because we have been dancing. Everybody is focussing on that. But, as I say, he is the only one who can do the dance with me that is why I dance with him.”
