Birmingham City agree fee with Wigan Athletic for Jean BeausejourBy Colin Tattum Jan 23 2012
Birmingham City have agreed a fee with Wigan Athletic for the sale of Jean Beausejour.
The Chilean international winger will now meet the Latics to discuss personal terms.
The fee for the 27-year-old has not been disclosed.
Blues signed Beausejour from Mexican side Club America for around £3.3 million in August, 2010.
And Blues have made it clear these past weeks that no player will leave St Andrew's unless their valuation is met.
Albion's offer, of around £1 million, for defender Liam Ridgewell was rejected last week.
And the speed at which a deal has been done in this case suggests that Wigan came straight in with the asking price.
Wigan tried to get Beausejour right at the death in the summer transfer window.
A recent cash injection from parent company Birmingham International Holdings Limited has eased the financial pressure on Blues.
But it was also always the case that if the right offer came in for a player who was prepared to go, it would most likely be accepted.
So far the only formal bids lodged with Blues have been for Ridgewell and now Beausejour.
