QPR striker Loic Remy has flown to Boston in the USA to complete a medical ahead of his move to Liverpool, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports reported on Saturday that the two Premier League clubs had agreed an £8.5million fee for Remy's transfer to Anfield, and it is now understood that fee could rise to £11m.

The Reds flew out to the US for their pre-season tour on Sunday, where they face Italian side Roma at Fenway Park as their first fixture of the Guinness International Cup, and France international striker Remy is on his way to join them.

And he could be joined by centre-back Dejan Lovren later this week following a step forward in negotiations over his transfer from Southampton.

      
Saints boss Ronald Koeman insists he “doesn’t want to lose” Lovren, but the clubs are believed to have agreed a fee and the Croatia international defender is keen on the move.

Remy, meanwhile, has a release clause in his contract which allows him to speak to clubs in the UEFA Champions League if a fee is agreed, and the two clubs made headway over the weekend.

He attracted the attention of a host of European clubs with an impressive season-long loan at Newcastle last season in which he scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

QPR are keen to offload the expensive forward, with chairman Tony Fernandes recently speaking of his desire to sort the player's future out quickly.

Remy, 27, and Lovren, 25, would be the Reds' fifth and sixth signings of the current transfer window following the arrivals of Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert from Southampton, Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen and Lazar Markovic from Benfica.

Liverpool have agreed an £8.5m fee with QPR to sign France striker Loic Remy.
The bid activated a release clause in the contract of the 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle, scoring 14 Premier League goals.
He is now expected to join the Reds on a pre-season tour in the United States to have a medical and discuss personal terms before completing the move.
Remy was part of the France squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
He moved to Newcastle on loan after QPR's relegation from the Premier League in 2013.

The arrival of Remy at Anfield is likely to coincide with the departure of Fabio Borini,
after Liverpool accepted a £14m offer for the Italian forward from Sunderland, where he spent last season on loan.
Remy joined QPR during their last top-flight spell, making an £8m switch from French club Marseille in January 2013.
He scored six league goals for the west London club but could not stop them being relegated that season.
QPR regained their Premier League status at the first attempt by beating Derby in the Championship play-off final in May.
Meanwhile, Spanish striker Iago Aspas has passed a medical to complete a season-long loan move to Sevilla, with defender Andre Wisdom set to join West Bromwich Albion on loan.
After watching the 21-year-old play in the Reds' 2-1 pre-season friendly win at Preston on Saturday,
manager Brendan Rodgers said: "West Brom are an excellent club and and it will be another chance for Andre's education and development to continue."
Wisdom had a successful loan spell at Derby in the Championship last season.

Transfer news: Liverpool appear to be close to completing a deal for Loic Remy



Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Loic Remy with the French forward reportedly having his medical in Boston.

And Sky sources report that the £8.5m deal to sign Remy from Queens Park Rangers should be finalised by Thursday.

The 27-year-old caught the eye at QPR towards the end of the 2012/13 season

but was unable to keep the London side in the top flight and spent last season on loan at Newcastle United.

He impressed in the north-east, scoring 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances,

and made it into the France squad for the World Cup in Brazil, where he came off the bench on a couple of occasions.

Remy is believed to have a release clause in his QPR contract which allows him to join clubs who have qualified for the Champions League for a fee of £8.5m.

And the former Marseille man is now said to have joined Liverpool on their pre-season tour of America.

However, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers told the media in Boston that he was not willing to comment on possible transfer moves.

"I shall not talk about speculation on any player until they have signed," he said.

"I will talk about them when they are signed and have agreed to come in."
