Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph has confirmed he will be remaining at the club and leading the team into the new season.

He said: "I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club."

Man City transfers: Fabian Delph deal back ON after amazing u-turn



Fabian Delph has done another U-turn and is set to sign for Manchester City in an £8million deal.

The Aston Villa midfielder was all set to make the move last weekend, when he was expected to have a medical and complete the transfer in time to join the Blues on their pre-season tour to Australia.

But that deal fell apart on Saturday morning when Delph announced he had changed his mind and would be staying at Villa.

Now, it seems, the England player has decided to go ahead with the original move after unconfirmed reports that he was having a medical in Wilmslow.

Delph has pledged his commitment to Aston Villa.

He released a statement on Villa's website to say he would not be switching clubs.

"I'm aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight," he said.

"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club."

Now, it seems, he has performed a u-turn on his u-turn.
