Jose Mourinho says he is still on the hunt for two more defenders to add to Chelsea's squad.
With the transfer deadline at the end of the month fast approaching, the Premiership champions are still hoping to replace the likely departure of centre back Robert Huth.
While the saga surrounding Arsenal left back Ashley Cole continues to roll on, the manager insists his summer spending has not yet finished.
"We need one or two more players on the defensive side because we have sold a lot and not brought any in," Mourinho told The Times.
"But, in attack, where we were a little weak last season, we're very strong because we have added [Michael] Ballack and [Andrei] Shevchenko.
"The players we have are of greater experience and character, so we will have no problems."
Meanwhile, the Portuguese boss has taken time out to offer some advice for his countryman Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 21-year-old was at the centre of gamesmanship accusations at the World Cup in Germany, and the former Porto boss believes the player can help defuse the situation by his own conduct.
"The pressure on Ronaldo will end soon. He will start playing, will have a good game and make a pass for Rooney to score a goal. They will hug, make nice photos and it will finish it off," Mourinho added.
"The only thing is, there is an anti-diving culture in England. He has to be careful not to fall down too much because it will awaken feelings of anti-simulation.
"If he does not do this he will have no problems because he is a great player."
