Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho: There Is One Rule For Me, And Another For Everyone ElseReal Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes there are double standards in Spain that treat him separately from the rest of La Liga.
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has once again spoken out against referees in his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
The Portuguese tactician referred to a series of penalty incidents in the match against Almeria on Sunday evening, where Los Blancos eventually were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw, losing ground on leaders Barcelona.
Mourinho feels that the decisions of the officials worked against his side, and in respect of a complaint made against him due to his outspoken remarks, he feels that he is being victimised.
He said: “I do not doubt the honesty of referees, but these were obvious incidents and we are not hypocrites, we have no problems saying that. I remarked that there were crucial penalties that the referee did not whistle for, which were obvious. Although Diego Alves is a great goalkeeper, I reckon we could have scored at least one.
“[On referee Perez Lasa] I said before that I feel there is a rule for me, and another one for the rest. History is repeating itself.”
Mourinho also refused to be drawn into discussions on the club’s hunt for a new striker, saying: “I am not the one you need to talk to. In November we all knew that Higuain was missing for a long time, and I have not said anything.”
The former Chelsea and Inter coach also responded sarcastically to questions asking whether he is prepared for the barrage of abuse he will receive from the Atletico Madrid fans in Thursday’s meeting at the Vicente Calderon.
He replied: “I cannot say much, this is a consequence of being in public. What do I do? Not go to the match? Am I prepared? No, I will just stay in the hotel.”
