Lopez might be back Sunday
News: Nets coach Avery Johnson said Thursday center Brook Lopez (foot) will not play Friday against the Warriors, but he is improving. Lopez went through a light individual workout. If he is able to partake in the shootaround Friday, then he possibly can practice Saturday and might return to the lineup Sunday against the Bucks. Andray Blatche has started the last three games at center in Lopez's absence.
Analysis: It appears Lopez is making enough progress that his absence might only last one more game. Clearly, his foot issues the last two seasons have been frustrating for the Nets and Fantasy owners, but the team insists is latest setback is unrelated to the stress fractures that sidelined him all but five games last year. Lopez is averaging 18.5 points and 6.8 rebounds this season. He continues to be a viable Fantasy start when healthy.
Davis may return to bench role
News: Hornets center Anthony Davis continues to make progress in his return from a sprained ankle, however he has yet to be cleared for full-contact practices. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Thursday that Hornets coach Monty Williams is considering bringing Davis off the bench upon his return, at least initially. Davis started the first six games of his career, however has not played since Nov. 17.
Analysis: When he has been healthy, Davis has lived up to all of the hype as the top pick in the draft, averaging 16.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.0 steals per game in just 28.3 minutes. Unfortunately, he has already missed 11 games this season, and will likely miss a few more before he is able to return. Hopefully he can get back to a full-time role fairly quickly, as Fantasy owners were already considered Davis a high-end option. At this point, continue to stash him in all formats.
