Wolfsburg's Diego rejects Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid - report

The former Juventus ace has allegedly refused an offer from the Super Lig outfit as he seeks a move to the Spanish side

Wolfsburg playmaker Diego has reportedly spurned the chance to join Turkish club Galatasaray in the hope he moves to Atletico Madrid.

Marca.com claims Galatasaray had made the former Juventus man a concrete offer, but it was refused.

The Turkish side see Diego as an ideal replacement for Arda Turan, who left for the Vicente Calderon.

And it seems the Brazilian could follow as he is eager to join the Spanish club following a less than perfect season in Germany.

Coach Gregorio Manzano feels Diego will compliment the prowess of Radamel Falcao up front following the Colombian's ?40 million arrival from Porto.

However, the 26-year-old midfielder has been told he needs to slash the current ?5m per annum wages he is on in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, Punto Radio of Spain claims the player's father and agent Djair Ribas is ready to travel to Madrid to close a deal.

Chelsea in for Pereira

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas worked with the 25-year-old Uruguay international before he joined the Premier League side this summer.

But it is now believed that Pereira could be following his former coach to Stamford Bridge, with the London club looking to replace Yuri Zhirkov who has joined Russian outfit FC Anzhi Makhachkala.

Pereira would fill that void after gaining a reputation as a highly rated wing-back.

Chelsea are the highest spenders of all 20 Premier League clubs this summer, with Juan Mata the latest signing, joining from Valencia for £26m.

Pereira began his career in Uruguay with Miremar Misiones and spent time at Quilmes and Argentinos Juniors before moving to Europe to play for Romanian side CFR Cluj.

He made the move to Porto in 2009 and played a significant part in their treble winning side under Villas-Boas last year.

It is understood that Pereira has a £25m release clause.

Juventus' Vincenzo Iaquinta unlikely to join Fiorentina - agent

The player's representative feels his chances of leaving for the Artemio Franchi are slim after speaking to the Florentine club

Vincenzo Iaquinta is not Fiorentina bound as his agent Andrea D'Amico rejected claims the Juventus striker is on the move.

Iaquinta, 31, who sustained a thigh injury last week after returning from a similar problem, has long been linked with an exit after an injury-hampered season.

Napoli have been strongly associated with his services, but Fiorentina are said to be looking for a forward to replace Alberto Gilardino, who seems destined for Genoa.

However, D'Amico believes the Tuscany-based side are not in the hunt for a new man up front despite losing Adrian Mutu to Cesena this summer.

"I have spoken with Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino and I do not think he is interested in my client [Iaquinta]," the agent told Lady Radio.

Iaquinta's current deal in Turin expires in 2013. Last term he was blighted by injury, making just eight starts for Juventus.

Representatives of Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates fly to Europe as Liverpool & Manchester City prepare offers – report

The departure of Sotiris Kyrgiakos has convinced Kenny Dalglish that he needs to sign a new centre-back, but Roberto Mancini does not want to miss out on the rising star

The representatives of Nacional defender Sebastian Coates are said to have travelled to England to have talks with potential suitors Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to Uruguayan outlet Ovacion, Liverpool are preparing to bid $6 million (£3.64m) for the centre-back, who is a rising star in his home country.

His signing would help the Reds to fill the gap left by departed Sotiros Kyrgiakos, who has left to join Wolfsburg.

It is reported that the Reds scouted Coates during the Copa America where he triumphed with Uruguay and are now looking to make him the second player from his country to play at Anfield after Luis Suarez.

But Manchester City are also reportedly interested in the 20-year-old and it is claimed boss Roberto Mancini wants the club’s hierarchy to make an offer instead of letting the player slip away to a rival.

The source states that City are expected to make a bid in the next few hours, despite previous suggestions elsewhere that Samir Nasri would be the final player brought into the club during this transfer window.
