Luis Suarez wants to leave Liverpool, despite love for Anfield club


Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has reiterated his love for the club, but again insisted that he needs to leave.


TheUruguay star is currently in South America preparing for theConfederations Cup, having already revealed he wants to quit Anfieldthis summer.


Liverpool insist Suarez, who is serving a 10-game ban from domesticfootball after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, is not for sale butthe player believes the treatment he receives in the press leaves himwith no alternative.


"Ever since I arrived I have felt bad, they have never judged me formy play but with the attitude that he dives, protests, makes gestures,racism... everything," Suarez told television show RR Gol.


"They have never spoken well of me. For that reason, when I was told Icould win the Player of the Year award, I said: 'I will not get excitedas I know that I will never win an important award in England'."


Suarez also feels the Football Association are against him, comparinghis ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra to that of John Terry, whowas suspended for half the amount of games after a similar incident withAnton Ferdinand.


"Without any proof they gave me an eight-match ban, but with Terry,where they had proof, lip-readers, they gave him four. I'm SouthAmerican and I think that's the root of all of this," he continued,admitting that despite his love for the club he cannot see himselfstaying.


"Liverpool is a club that I dreamt about playing for as a boy. I havebeen with great players there, they know me and I would love tocontinue for many more years at Liverpool. The stadium is spectacular,the fans are phenomenal: people with tattoos of me, things that I couldnever have imagined.


"After the [Evra] suspension people would come up to me, this issomething that really touched me and they would say: "Luis forgeteverything and stay."


"But I can't forget as it was something that I had to suffer, that myfamily had to suffer and away from football I have a family to supportand who are hurt by these things."


Asked again where he sees himself going, should he leave he said: "Myagent said to remain calm rather than quiet, remain calm and when thereis concrete interest you'll be the first to know."


Suarez also recounted a recent incident during a shopping trip, which affected him and his family.


"About a week ago I was walking in a shopping centre near Manchester and three or four guys asked me for a photo," he revealed.


"While we were posing for it my wife said to me "Luis, get out of thephoto". She noticed they were making biting gestures. I was with mywife and my daughter. Things like that get on your nerves. My wife wason the brink of tears and the blokes ran off laughing. You get tired ofstuff like that."

Real Madrid


Suarez has already declared that he would be open to a move to Real Madrid and that remains the case.


"I'm not sure if I see myself in the white (of Real Madrid), the only thing I know is that I have a contract," he said.


"Any player would like to play for a great team and Real Madrid certainly are that.


"Every player wants to reach the very top and Real Madrid are at thevery top, but everything that has been said is just rumours, I have hadnothing concrete.


"Obviously Real Madrid is a great team and every player dreams aboutthem; Real Madrid is Real Madrid and it's as high as you can go as aplayer and they will always tempt you."


He admits that he and compatriot Edinson Cavani don't speak abouttheir respective futures, with the Napoli striker also the subject ofregular speculation.


"We have never really spoken about whether this club or that isinterested. Obviously we talk about football; he asks me about thePremier League and I ask him about Italy," he said.


"But we have never talked or even even joked about one of us going to one club or another.


"I would prefer to have him as a team-mate than a rival because he isa great player. Hopefully he will go to one of the four you dream ofbecause he has great power."

Transfer news: Luis Suarez urges Liverpool to 'listen' as future remains in balance


Luis Suarez has urged Liverpool to heed his wishes as he continues to be linked with a summer departure from Anfield.


TheUruguay striker appears set to end a turbulent two-and-half-year spellin England, claiming his love for the club is outweighed by what heperceives as unfair treatment from the Football Association and theEnglish media.


Suarez, who has six matches of a 10-match domestic ban still to servefor biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in April, has yet to submit anofficial transfer request.


But the 26-year-old, currently on international duty at theConfederations Cup, has reiterated his desire to join Real Madrid andsays his aspirations should be key to any decision over his future.


"First I have a contract with the club, but if one day I want to sign(for another club), Liverpool will hear the offer, as it does withother players," Suarez was quoted as telling Spanish newspaper Marca.


"They must agree with other teams, but the word of the player, inthis case mine, is important. If you need a change, you should listen tothe player.


"Every player aspires (to be the best) and if you ask a child ofeight years they would say one day they would go to Real Madrid orBarcelona."


Suarez, who signed a new contract last summer and has four years ofhis current deal left to run, has claimed manager Brendan Rodgers isaware of his desire to leave.


But Liverpool disputed that in a statement released last month and said they expected their star man to honour his contract.



Divisive


Suarez has been a divisive figure during his time atLiverpool, with misdemeanors ranging from his racial abuse ofManchester United's Patric Evra, to a perennial debate about diving andfinally his biting of Ivanovic.


Liverpool's fans have stuck by him throughout, recognising hisbrilliance as a player, and he admits that he will always appreciatetheir support.


"The love I have for Liverpool I will never forget," he added.


"I love the city, the club and the people and everyone is welcome.All I ask is for respect for all the things that have been said."


Suarez has also conceded that some of his critics may be right in condemning his on-field theatrics.


"There are moments of importance (in games) and I have lived football in a very particular way since childhood," he said.


"But I know I can play tricks.


"Sometimes I protest too much to the referee. I have to take it a bit better."

The Liverpool striker has once again commented on hisfuture in the media, and says he is "disturbed" by the Anfield outfit'sabsence from the Champions League

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has once again heaped praise on Real Madrid as speculation continues to surround his future on Merseyside.

The Uruguay international, currently in Brazil for the Confederations Cup, had previously claimed he would relish the chance to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo for los Blancos.

And now the 26-year-old has begun discussing the qualities he feels hecould offer Madrid, saying he would give his all for the SantiagoBernabeu outfit.

“I will give my soul every time I step on the pitch,” Suarez revealed when asked by El Pais what he would bring to a team like Madrid.

“I have done this with Uruguay, Ajax and Liverpool. I do not hold anything when I finish a game.”

Suarezalso reiterated his belief that joining Madrid would be the pinnacle ofany player's career, and admits he is disappointed that Liverpool willnot be playing in Europe next season.

“A player always aspires tobe at the top of their profession and Madrid is at the top for anyfootball player,” he continued. “But, do you know what it is like toplay for Liverpool?”

“It disturbs me that Liverpool are not in the Champions League every season.

“I’vesuffered at Liverpool, but when I think of what it represents to playfor this club, and the love my daughter has - she sings the hymn - thehairs on the back of my neck stand up when I play at Anfield.”
