Cityhave been interested in Kevin De Bruyne all summer amd the latest information we have tonight from sources in Germany is that talk of a medical is too premature.

We're nowhere near that stage yet. Wolfsburg have said all week that the former Chelsea forwardis "99.9% certain" to stay in the Bundesliga this summer.

However, and there's a sense from our Sky colleagues in Germany that developments are expected between now and the end of Deadline Day.

Manchester City 'make £47m bid' for Kevin de Bruyne of Wolfsburg

Manchester City have launched a £47m bid for Wolfsburg attacker Kevin de Bruyne, according to Sky sources.

City have been interested in signing the former Chelsea player for some time but Wolfsburg have previously been insistent they have not received any offers from the Manchester club.

The 23-year-old, who struggled to break into the Blues' first-team under Jose Mourinho, has previously said he has had "informal contact" with City and the player's agent, Patrick De Koster, admitted on Monday that they are waiting to see if an agreement is made between the clubs.

De Koster said: "I have read a lot of nonsense in the media. Kevin remains a Wolfsburg player and is focused on his job at the club.

"We are waiting to discover whether any agreement has been reached between the clubs. That is for the clubs to decide, and not for us. There is no medical planned at this stage, and he is happy at Wolfsburg."

Wolfsburg’s managing director, Klaus Allofs, has previously said he expects De Bruyne to stay but Sky sources understand an offer for the player has now been made.

Allofs said last month: "Kevin hasn’t come to us or asked if we would agree to let him go. So if you would ask me today, if Kevin will stay in Wolfsburg, my answer would be yes – 99.9 percent."

De Bruyne had a superb season in the Bundesliga last term, scoring 16 goals in 49 appearances, having signed from Chelsea in the summer of 2014.

The Belgium international began his career at Genk before joining Chelsea in 2012 and being loaned straight back to his former club.

Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne admits he 'would like to play for a bigger club', according to Laura Lutz of Sky Deutschland.

Manchester City are keen to test the German club’s resolve with a bid of around £45m for the former Chelsea player to bring him back to the Premier League.

De Bruyne moved to Wolfsburg in January 2014 for £18m after making just six first-team appearances for Chelsea in his two years at Stamford Bridge.

But the Belgium international was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season and several clubs have expressed an interest in securing his services over the summer.

Despite the attraction of moving to a bigger club, the 24-year-old is apparently happy at Wolfsburg and is in no rush to leave, according to Lutz.

Wolfsburg have already stated they are keen to hold on to De Bruyne, who has swiftly become their biggest asset in his short spell at the club.

Vincent Kompany hopes Kevin De Bruyne joins Man City

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany believes Kevin De Bruyne would be a terrific acquisition for the Premier League club.

City have been tracking former Chelsea midfielder De Bruyne for most of the summer and are reportedly lining up a near £50m offer to his current club Wolfsburg.

Raheem Sterling has already arrived at City along with former Aston Villa favourite Fabian Delph, and Kompany has been impressed by both.

And the Belgium international defender is convinced it would be a great piece of business if City were to seal a deal for his compatriot.

"Let me put it this way, he (De Bruyne) is definitely not going to make the team weaker. He's a phenomenal player," Kompany said.

"Our squad can become stronger by getting everyone in the right direction.

"We had so many players - and I was one of them, especially at the end of last season - who didn't perform and if they do, then it's like having six or seven new players. Then we do have a stronger squad.

"Players like Raheem and Delph, from what I've seen, will give us something different."

Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne could still join Manchester City despite appearing to commit himself to the German club on Monday.

City have been linked with a move for the former Chelsea player for most of the summer and Sky sources said the Premier League club had made a £47m bid for him last week.

The club’s captain, Vincent Kompany, also said his Belgium team-mate would be a good acquisition at the Etihad Stadium.

But with City reported to be considering another move for De Bruyne, the player said at the Sport Bild Awards on Monday night that he will "definitely be playing for Wolfsburg this season".

But De Bruyne's agent was furious at the leading nature of the question that was put to him, leaving him in an awkward position, and he says nothing has been decided about his future this summer.

Patrick De Koster said: "I am furious by what has happened tonight. Kevin wanted to show respect by attending this event. No decision has been made on Kevin's future in this transfer window.

"We have yet to find out if Wolfsburg has reached any agreement with a club. Kevin remains a Wolfsburg player, and is focused on his job at the club. He also remains happy at Wolfsburg."

De Bruyne began his career at Genk before moving to Stamford Bridge in 2012 and being loaned straight back to his former club then Werder Bremen.

He returned to London for the start of the 2013/14 campaign but made just two Premier League starts and made only nine appearances overall before being sold to Wolfsburg for £18m.

De Bruyne has made a much better impact since going back to the Bundesliga. He scored 18 times for his club and country last season in 56 games.
