Kenny Miller out of Rangers squad as Fiorentina & Birmingham vie for his signature
Jan 10 2011 By Keith Jackson
KENNY MILLER has been left out of the Rangers squad for tonight's Scottish Cup clash with Kilmarnock as his Ibrox future continues to hang in the balance.
Gers boss Walter Smith believes the club's top scorer is not in the right frame of mind to face Mixu Paatelainen's side.
It means Miller - who is a transfer target for Birmingham City and Italian giants Fiorentina - could have played his last game for the Scottish champions.
Miller's agent Dave Baldwin is heading back to Britain from the US and is expected to hold crunch talks with Martin Bain this afternoon.
Rangers are still awaiting an official cash offer from Fiorentina for the 23-goal striker but hope Brum boss Alex McLeish will come back in with an improved deal when he makes a second offer to the player today.
Rangers stand to lose a possible £500,000 if the player opts to move to Italy rather than the Premier League.
McLeish had hoped to tie up the deal on Friday when he had a £650,000 bid accepted by Rangers - who stand to pocket a further £500,000 in May if City beat the drop.
But although McLeish was willing to pay Miller around £25,000 a week over two and a half years he was trumped by the big-spending Italians.
Miller was told he could earn more than £30,000 a week if he chooses Florence ahead of the Midlands club but the Serie A side will not match Birmingham's offer to Rangers.
