AC Milan are racing to find a midfield replacement for injured Mathieu Flamini, and the answer could lie in Sampdoria's Fernando Tissone, his agent has confirmed.
The champions are desperate to add to their squad as a knee ligament injury, which required surgery, has forced the Frenchman out of action for at least six months.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri and CEO Adriano Galliani are looking at a rescue plan, and Tissone's father and agent believes something could happen from now until the end of the transfer window.
"I know the Rossoneri are looking at the evantuality to bring in Tissone, even on loan," Lino Omar Tissone told Calciomercato.it.
"We will see what happens from now until Wednesday. The transfer market [in Italy] closes at 19:00CET.
"It would be an honour for us [to join Milan]. Tissone knows Antonio Cassano as they played together at Sampdoria."
However, interest in not just confined to San Siro, rather, it is wide-ranging and pan-European.
"Roma and other foreign clubs are also keen," the agent concluded.
Sampdoria were relegated to Serie B after a disappointing campaign last term. Milan have also been linked with Barcelona's Seydou Keita as a replacement for Flamini.
