Inter attempt final move for Genoa's Rodrigo Palacio - report

San Siro giants are looking to bolster further before the end of the transfer window despite president Massimo Moratti claiming there would be no further business

Inter are set to make a last-ditch move for Genoa forward Rodrigo Palacio, but it could cost them more than ?8 million.

Il Corriere dello Sport comments that the Italian club spent the night in discussions with the 29-year-old where they reached a basic agreement.

Inter are expected to pay Genoa around ?8m, which includes half of goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano's rights as part of a deal.

However, it seems the move is being held up by Genoa, as they are trying to bring in a forward of their own before releasing Palacio.

Their move for Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino appears to have failed, but it is said Catania's Maxi Lopez may yet arrive as the transfer window comes to a close on Wednesday.

The proposed transfer comes less than a day after Inter president Massimo Moratti said he did not expect any further additions following the arrival of Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid.

Anonymous sources have confirmed to Cartilage Free Captain that Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Napoli's Marek Hamsik, pending a medical and sorting of the bank guarantees, neither of which is expected to hold up the deal. The 24-year-old star will join Spurs immediately and is happy to be trading in Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi for Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

"I'm ecstatic to be leaving the home of the world's best pastas and pizzas for some of the world's most mediocre teas," Hamsik said. "This is a dream come true for me and my family. I've never really dreamt of playing under competent management in the Champions League and I am glad that will never be a concern for me again."

It is unknown exactly how much Spurs will pay Napoli for the Slovakian, but it is expected to be in the range of 43 galleons and 19 sickles. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is currently negotiating the financial guarantees with Gringotts, but the club has a good relationship with the bank after they sent David Bentley to work the vaults last month so it should be sorted out well in advance of the transfer window closing.

The people most excited about Hamsik's move to Spurs are the children in North London. Hamsik is the most adorablest of players in the world who has a reputation of taking to the streets to play football with children, something he will now be doing in the England capital.

With Hamsik in the fold, Harry Redknapp is now free to chase his dreams and bring Craig Bellamy, Joe Cole, Scott Parker and Elton John to White Hart Lane. All four are expected to take turns being painted gold and posing as the cockerel atop the West Stand at White Hart Lane

Sky Sports sources understand Stoke are in talks with Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner about a move to the Britannia Stadium.

The 23-year-old has been linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer and it seems he could join Stoke after being spotted at the club's training ground.

The Denmark international has made no secret of his desire to leave Arsenal after becoming frustrated with a lack of regular opportunities last term.

Arsene Wenger left Bendtner out of Arsenal's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and confirmed he would be allowed to depart after seven years at the club.

Bendtner has made only one appearance this season and the signing of Park Chu-young has pushed him further down the pecking order.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has been actively looking to bolster his attacking options and it appears he has turned his attentions to Bendtner after being frustrated in his attempts to land Peter Crouch from Tottenham.

The Potters are also in talks with Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome and it looks like Bendtner could join him at the Britannia if he can agree terms and pass a medical.

The 30-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a deal at the Parc des Princes after five years with the Turkish giants.

Anzhi Makhachkala are preparing to flash the cash yet again to bring Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic to Russia with a bid of ?28.2 million, according to The Sun.

The report claims that the billionaire-owned side from Dagestan are ready to test the mettle of Sir Alex Ferguson with a big-money bid for his prized central defender.

However, the Red Devils boss is by no means ready to accept any bid for Vidic or even consider letting him leave the club no matter what the price.

Vidic joined United from Spartak Moscow in 2006 for ?8 million and has gone on to win the Premier League, Carling Cup and Champions League at Old Trafford as well as collecting his second Premier League Player of the Season award at the conclusion of the 2010-11 term.

Despite his apparent happiness at the club, Anzhi reportedly believe that Ferguson could be tempted with a huge bid for Vidic and the ?28.2m offer is seen as an opening gambit.

Anzhi are owned by Russian businessman Suleyman Kerimou and have already flexed their muscle in the transfer market this summer, signing Balazs Dzsudzsak and Yuri Zhirkov, as well as securing one of the highest-profile transfers of the summer window in former Inter hotshot Samuel Eto’o, with the striker reportedly earning ?340,000-a-week in Russia.

Despite money not appearing an issue for the club and a bid, according to the report, being imminent, a successful bid seems unlikely at this stage.
