Newcastle United have today (Wednesday, 10th June) announced that John Carver and Steve Stone will leave the Club with immediate effect.
Managing director Lee Charnley said: "After discussions with John it was mutually agreed that in the best interests of the Club moving forward, and to enable the new head coach to build his own coaching team, we would go our separate ways.
"John loves Newcastle United and no-one could have worked with more passion and enthusiasm than he did.
"John's connection with the Club dates back to 1979 when he joined as an apprentice. He has always put the Club first and the recent discussions we had only reaffirmed this.
"He is a man of great character and dignity and will always be welcome at Newcastle United. We wish him every success in the future."
John Carver said: "It has been a privilege to serve as head coach of this great football club.
"The fans and the region deserve a successful team and both myself and my support staff worked very hard with the squad that was available to us.
"I would like to thank all of the staff at the Club for their dedication, including Steve Stone in particular. I am also grateful to the owner and to Lee Charnley for their support during my tenure.
"I wish the Club every success for the future and steeled with the experience of the last six months, I am eager and ready for the next challenge."
On Steve Stone, Lee Charnley said: "I would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to Steve Stone for his contribution to the Club.
"Steve joined us as Academy coach in 2009, before being appointed reserve team assistant manager in July 2010. Steve was subsequently promoted to first team coach under Alan Pardew and, latterly, John Carver, for who he provided tremendous support.
"Like John, we wish Steve all the very best for his future career in the game."
Andy Woodman will remain at the Club in his role as goalkeeping coach. Dave Watson, who joined the first team coaching staff after Alan Pardew's departure, will return to his role in the Academy as under-18 coach.

Steve McClaren set to be confirmed as Newcastle manager

Steve McClaren is close to being confirmed as Newcastle's new manager, according to Sky sources.

It is understood the 54-year-old former England and Derby County boss has concluded talks following a short holiday, after the crux of negotiations took place last week.

The appointment of a new manager at Newcastle moved a step nearer completion with the official confirmation on Wednesday morning that head coach John Carver and coach Steve Stone have left the club.

Carver, who lost 13 of his 20 games in charge, said: "It has been a privilege to serve as head coach of this great football club.

"The fans and the region deserve a successful team and both myself and my support staff worked very hard with the squad that was available to us."

McClaren has been the long-term favourite to take over from Carver, who left St. James' Park after discussions as to whether he could revert to his former position as assistant coach reached impasse.

McClaren had been in charge at Derby since September 2013 but was sacked by the Sky Bet Championship club at the end of the season having failed to secure a place in the play-offs, finishing eighth in the table after an embarassing final day defeat.

Former FC Twente boss McClaren was linked with the Newcastle job when Alan Pardew left in January and was also under consideration at West Ham after Sam Allardyce left at the end of the season.

Patrick Vieira, an elite development coach at Manchester City, had also been under consideration by Newcastle but talks were quickly concluded with Viera remaining at City.

Newcastle United are delighted to announce the appointment of Steve McClaren as the Club's new head coach.
McClaren joins United on a deal for an initial term of three years, which could be extended to eight.
Managing director Lee Charnley said: "From my first meeting with Steve I knew he was the perfect fit for Newcastle United.
"I am delighted that we have secured the services of one of the best coaches in English football.
"He has 20 years' experience, including for the national team and at the highest level of European competition.
His most notable achievements include winning the Eredivisie with FC Twente and guiding Middlesbrough to a League Cup win in 2004 and to the final of the UEFA Cup in 2006.
"He has a proven track record of being an innovative and forward-thinking coach and developing and improving players, which was a key quality we sought in the individual to fill this role.
"Steve also brings with him a great enthusiasm and passion for the job, the Club and the city, which he articulated to me very clearly from the outset.
"This is a huge job which comes with considerable pressures and I am convinced that Steve not only understands the weight of expectation that comes with this role, but that he has the strength of character and professionalism befitting of a club of our size and status.
"Steve has been tasked to secure a top-eight finish in the Premier League and he is also heavily incentivised to try to win a cup competition.
"We recognise supporters' strong desire to win a trophy, an ambition which the Club now shares as Mike Ashley made clear in his comments on the final day of the season.
Steve is excited by this and he has our full support in trying to achieve this goal.
"Our immediate focus will be on working with Steve to assess and improve upon our playing squad, as well as appointing individuals to his backroom staff."

Speaking of his appointment, McClaren said: "I am privileged to be appointed head coach of Newcastle United. This is a big club with a wonderful heritage.
"St. James' Park is like a cathedral on a Saturday afternoon, a symbol for the city and I am excited to be given this opportunity.
"I know how important Newcastle United is to the city and the region.
"The supporters are some of the most loyal, passionate and devoted in the world. Despite everything they maintain their faith. We owe it to them to do everything we can to reward them with success.
"There's a lot of work to do, but the Club has made it clear about wanting success and I would not have come here if I didn't believe they were serious.
"This Club has waited far too long to win a trophy. That's one of my primary objectives here.
"I've already won trophies as a manager, and a club the size of Newcastle United should be winning cups and finishing in the top eight in the Premier League.
"I'm determined to give the supporters of Newcastle United a team they can be proud of. The hard work starts now."

好多分析都講左呢個舉動係 PR 多於一切，背後控制俾錢買人/賣人賺錢既仍然係肥佬，佢係唔係個 board 入面根本無關係……

稍為有的驚喜既係 Moncur 入左 board，佢係紐卡素名宿，以前紐卡素隊長，深受球迷愛戴，不過年紀有返咁上下，同埋要對抗 cancer，唔知搵佢入 board 係做 show 定係真正有職責……
