Newcastle United’s deal with Adidas is said to be over after 14 years, giving the club a major financial blow.
It has been reported that Adidas did not enjoy the negative publicity Mike Ashley has brought to the club. His decision to re-name St James Park did not go down well with the sportswear giants and this was one of the reasons that lead the German shirt makers to refuse to renew the club’s contract. Newcastle currently are in top spot in the Coca Cola Championship and they are now on the verge of agreeing a deal with Puma. Adidas are also on the verge of joining forces with Tottenham who will therefore end their deal with Puma.
Newcastle’s financial troubles are set to increase as Northern Rock’s deal with the club (shirt sponsors) will end this Summer. The club is also giving a 25% discount on all adidas products from their club shop.
