Reds set for Inter friendly
Newly-crowned Premiership champions, United will take on Serie A winners Internazionale in a friendly in August as part of the Reds’ pre-season schedule.
Sir Alex Ferguson is taking his nine-time title winners to the Far East in July for a four-nation tour which takes in Japan, Korea, China and Malaysia.
But the Reds will then return to England to continue preparations for the new season to defend the title, and Internazionale will be one of United’s first tests on Wednesday 1 August at Old Trafford.
Inter ran away with the Scudetto this season, ending the season in Italy with an impressive 93 points from 36 games, a mammoth 21 points clear of second-placed AS Roma, and 32 ahead of Lazio, who finished third.
In competitive terms, the Reds last met Inter on the way to the 1999 Treble, defeating the Nerazzurri over two legs in the quarter final of the Champions League.
