Lyon rule out Gervinho offer

Lyon coach Remi Garde has dismissed reports that he wants to bring Arsenal attacker Gervinho back to French football.

Gervinho has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer and there has been speculation of a switch to Roma, who are now coached by his former Lille boss Rudi Garcia.

However, there have been claims in France that Gervinho could be on his way to Lyon as part of a swap deal which would see Yoann Gourcuff go in the opposite direction.

Former Arsenal midfielder Garde has ruled out a bid for the Ivory Coast international and will instead turn to within the Lyon ranks for attacking reinforcements.

"This has only come from the press," Garde told Le Progres in response to the speculation.

"I've heard that Lyon is interested in Gervinho, but Gervinho is a striker, and we have young and very good strikers already at the club."

Gervinho, who can play out wide or up front, has scored 11 goals in 63 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Lille two years ago.

He has also been linked with Marseille and reports have claimed that Arsenal want at least ?10million (£8.6m) before agreeing to sell the 26-year-old.

Arsenal have told Roma to increase their bid for striker Gervinho. Roma have offered £6.8m and Arsenal want £8.6m.
Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo has also been discussed. Fulham are also keen on Osvaldo.
Arsenal scout Everton Gushiken watched Atletico Mineiro midfielder Bernard against Olimpia last night in the Copa Libertadores final.

Arsenal are in negotiations with Roma over the sale of striker Gervinho, Sky sources understand.
The Ivory Coast international signed from Lille for £10.5m in 2011 but has struggled to cement his place in Arsene Wenger's side.
Gervinho has scored just nine Premier League goals in two seasons for Arsenal and could be offloaded to the Serie A side for around £7m.
The move, if it goes ahead, would see the 26-year-old reunited with his former Lille manager Rudi Garcia, after he became Roma manager in June.

Arsenal striker Gervinho close to finalising Roma move after hiking price

ARSENAL'S wantaway striker Gervinho will finalise the deal taking him to Roma this week.


Arsenal look set to be on the verge of letting Gervinho leave for RomaThat's according to new reports in Italy claiming the Serie A giants have upped their bid from £7m to £8m.
Sporting director Walter Sabatini has been given permission to speak to the 26-year-old's representatives and are hoping to complete personal terms talks as soon as possible.
The director will then iron out the few last details of the deal to bring the forward, who signed for the Gunners from Lille, to the Stadio Olimpico.

Starsport revealed yesterday that new coach Rudi Garcia is keen to hook up once more with Gervinho, after their time together at the French side.
A source revealed: "Garcia has made Gervinho his top choice.
“He knows only too well of his capabilities and that is why Roma will pay a higher price.”
The north London outfit paid out £10.8m for Gervinho, who failed to make a major impact for the team last term.
