The former Arsenal midfielder has been training with his old side since leaving AC Milan in the summer but the Gunners manager refuses to be drawn on a potential re-signing
The Gunners, having let several players go over the summer and struggling with injuries, are pursuing several players before the end of the window, with Goal exclusively revealing that they have opened talks with Real Madrid over a potential ?30 million deal for Angel Di Maria.
Flamini was released by AC Milan at the end of last season and has been training with the Gunners but a smiling Wenger told the press: "He is just here to work on his fitness and he does that very well.
"I don't say there's no chance and I don't say there is a chance [of signing him]."
France international Flamini made 153 appearances for the Gunners between 2004 and 2008.
Wenger, though silent on his interest in Di Maria and fellow Madrid striker Karim Benzema, says that he is "confident" that he will secure the right signings by September 2.
