Lauren hopes to be back in action soon as he nears the end of his recovery after knee surgery. The 29-year-old went under the knife in January to cure a long-standing problem and has not played since. "So far everything I have done is going well, the knee is responding well," he told Arsenal.com on August 11. "At the moment we are looking at probably one and a half months, two months maximum, until I can play again."

Gael Clichy's foot injury is expected to sideline him for the first six weeks of the season. "The news is quite good for Clichy but he will not be back before October," said Arsène Wenger on August 1.

Philippe Senderos will miss the first six weeks of the season after dislocating his shoulder in the World Cup game with South Korea on June 23. It forced him to miss the rest of the tournament. "He will not be back before October," said Wenger on August 1.

Abou is making steady progress after suffering a fractured, dislocated ankle after a challenge by Dan Smith during the 3-0 win at Sunderland in May. "He is in front of what we expected for him," said Wenger on August 1. "But it is November at the earliest for him [before he returns]."
