Wizards’ Butler Out for Sunday’s Game
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 25 (AP) -- Washington all-star forward Caron Butler missed the game at Minnesota on Sunday with lower back spasms.
A team spokesman said Butler has been experiencing some discomfort for the past week, but had not missed any games or practice time.
In his second season with Washington, Butler is averaging 20.3 points and 7.6 rebounds, both second on the team. He had two points and four rebounds for the Eastern Conference in last Sunday's All-Star game.
It was uncertain if Saturday's travel affected the injury.
Because of poor weather conditions in the Twin Cities, the Wizards plane was diverted to Duluth and the team had to be bused the approximately 160 miles to Minneapolis.
To replace Butler, Jarvis Hayes started for the fifth time this season.
