Championship side Queens Park Rangers have secured the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Adel Taarabt until the end of the 2008-09 season.
Taraabt, a 19-year-old Moroccan who made his international debut against the Czech Republic earlier this year, has struggled to make his mark at White Hart Lane despite arriving on a wave of high expectations from French side RC Lens in 2007.
Indeed, previous Spurs manager Juande Ramos did not even give the attacking midfielder a squad number at the start of this season.
Things improved a little for the former France Under-18 player somewhat when Harry Redknapp took over as manager at the Lane, with Taraabt making substitute appearances in the FA Cup against Manchester United and the Premier League against Arsenal.
However, the player has now decided to take the opportunity of a move across London to QPR, who are striving to secure a Championship play-off berth.
Tarabt is now expected to make his debut for Paulo Sousa's (pictured) side when Rangers play Southampton at St Mary's on Saturday.
The youngster told the official QPR website, “Harry Redknapp told me that Tottenham are not really in a position to give young players like me an opportunity right now, and he said that QPR were keen on me.
“He told me to come here and show what I can do. As soon as I knew about the move, I was interested.
“Other Championship clubs came in for me, but QPR is a team that plays football in a way that I like to play it.”
Taraabt is the third Spurs youngster to go out on loan to a Championship side this week, following Chris Gunter (to Nottingham Forest) and Giovani dos Santos (to Ipswich Town).
