Champions League winner Harry Kewell back at Liverpool for All-Star charity match Champions League winner Harry Kewell will be back at Anfield this weekend after the latest raft of guest participants were confirmed for Sunday’s All-Star charity match.Kewell, who helped Liverpool win the European Cup in Istanbul in 2005, is one of nine names to be added to an already star-studded roster.
The sell-out event has been organised by the Liverpool FC Foundation and will raise funds for the club’s official charity and others within the city.
Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are the team captains for a match that will include current Liverpool players not on international duty, Academy players and a clutch of top names from across Europe.
Gerrard’s squad has been bolstered by former Liverpool team-mates Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing plus his cousin Anthony Gerrard, who the Reds skipper faced in the 2012 Carling Cup final against Cardiff City.The captain will also be able to call upon
Crystal Palace centre-back Scott Dann and Swansea City skipper Ashley Williams.Carragher, meanwhile, has added Kewell to his squad along with former Anfield colleagues Stewart Downing and Peter Gulacsi, while Manchester City full-back Gael Clichy is also involved.Luis Suarez, Thierry Henry, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Didier Drogba are among many to have previously confirmed they will make an appearance at Anfield.
The game kicks off at 3pm on Sunday and will be shown live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO.
